The Yucaipa adobe has sit closed for years. Currently, the Yucaipa adobe was one of the early houses in Yucaipa. It is actually believed to be the oldest house in San Bernardino county, which dated back to 1842. It was built by James Waters with parts of the adobe house from the Diego Sepulveda’s adobe that was destroyed by fire. The Sepulveda adobe was located by today’s Daniel Market on Dunlap Blvd. Diego Sepulveda was the nephew of Antonio Maria Lugo who owned Rancho San Bernardino, which was composed of 35,000 acres that was taken from the Missions and given to Mexican citizens through land grants.
